I don’t know why I am Miss Grumpy today. Woke up in the wrong side of the bed today, probably. Cancelled calls, curt answers – what’s wrong with me?
While on my way to office, it dawned on me that I haven’t eaten much lately. Is this it? Reason for my petulance? [voice inside my head: Playing with the thesaurus again, Mr. Grey?] Argh~ Can’t get enough of Fifty Shades of Grey series. It’s grown on me, and I’ll make a write-up for you guys soon. 🙂
Anyhow, I’m hungry. I haven’t eaten my breakfast, and I’m waiting for my brunch buddies to arrive so we can go to the canteen and scavenge whatever leftover food they have from last night’s menu. Kidding! [Partially serious]. I’m craving for something spicy and sour, hot and yummy. I should’ve brought some packets of my shin ramyeon [(辛) 신라면] and share it with my colleagues and friends.
Since there’ll be no ramyeon available in the new concessionaire, I’ll just imagine eating Korean food now. TT
My Bulgogi Garden Experience:

The Korean restaurant along Kalayaan caught my attention. What’s with Korean restaurants and their names ending with “garden”? So far, I have eaten at Korean Garden Restaurant (Jupiter St, Bel-air, Makati) and Dong Won Korean Garden (also in Jupiter). Well, it won’t hurt if I’ll try another “garden” restaurant. Shall we?
It was raining when we went there. The place is packed since it’s Mothers’ Day and I guess people were out celebrating. We were greeted by a middle-aged Korean man, perhaps the owner since I haven’t seen maître d’s in Korean restaurant. I was a bit surprised to see that almost 75% of the diners were Filipino. Whoa, the Korean wave never fails to shock me.
We were seated in a table facing the glass wall outside. The restaurant was not hot, though I presumed it was since it was a sort of barbecue/grill house. I guess it’s because of the long, adjustable, individual/per table exhaust fans hanging from the ceiling. I fired up Google and found this photo for you:
I was craving for Samgyupsal (삼겹살), or grilled slices of pork belly.
We ordered that, along with bibimbap (비빔밥) or mixed rice,
and naengmyeon (냉면 ) or cold noodles.
Of course, the ever-present Korean appetizers were served first.
The experience I have here was good. The restaurant was clean and not hot, the staff was very attentive, the dishes were delicious, and the price is affordable. However, I noticed that some of the servers were perspiring and it was quite noticeable. I tried not to stare much for fear of losing my appetite. In addition, the place is a bit noisy – the clattering of plates and cutleries being washed and prepared, I guess. Will I visit this Korean restaurant again? The answer is yes. There might be some points to improve, but overall it is not so bad.
