As I approach mid-twenties, I become more conscious with my body and health. I watch what I eat and do exercise when my schedule permits. It is very challenging, but I also try to catch enough hours of sleep in a day. Together with a positive outlook in life, I try to do these things to maintain a healthy and happy lifestyle befitting my age.
I have been skinny and underweight all my life, but no, I am not anorexic. I just have a natural fast metabolism. However, as a person age it is normal to experience a metabolic decline which can later result to weight gain. As I am no longer in my teenage years, I am susceptible to this and I accept the fact that my resting metabolic rate will soon start to decrease. I will accept it of course, but not ignore it.
After that enlightening bit, I started to be more focused on my healthy lifestyle. It isn’t an easy feat, I tell you. There are times when I feel tempted to eat too much sweets, devour at least two bowls of ramen, or skip my gym sessions, but eating and exercising in moderation is always the key. As Buddha taught after his awakening, the Middle Way, the path of moderation between the extremes of sensual indulgence and self-mortification, is the path to wisdom. Or health.
The Zen Institute Medical Spa
One day I was invited to join a spa party at The Zen Institute Medical Spa, the first and true medical spa in the Philippines. It works within a concept of holistic wellness by introducing various scientific breakthroughs in both products and services. Zen Institute prides itself in offering several services, but what caught my curiosity was their Weight Management Program. Since I am getting more body-conscious everyday, I wanted to know a lot of options for me to become healthier.
Focused on achieving their clienteles’ overall health and well-being, the Zen Institute provides weight management programs that are scientifically-proven to be safe and well-effective. The clinic doesn’t offer short-cuts, surgeries, or other fast remedies, but individualized protocols and maintenance programs overseen by doctors and specialists. Two programs under weight management are Colonics and IV Micro-Nutrition, among others.
Colonics or also known as Colon Hydrotheraphy is a painless and non-surgical procedure of flushing down toxins from your colon out of your body through a combination of science, creativity, and aesthetic. The therapy usually lasts up to 5o to 60 minutes.
As we age, we sometimes tend to intake too much prescription drugs which we know could negatively affect our liver. In Intravenuous (IV) Micronutrition, micronutrients are transferred straight to our veins without passing through the gastrointestinal tract and liver, hence sparing our vital organs. More importantly, the right amount of nutrients are absorbed directly by the body and become easily ready to use.
These two are both non-invasive and non-surgical which made me more curious and interested. Weight management programs at the Zen Institute are also known to be effective, safe, and precise following a science-based and holistic approach. Moreover, since it is a true medical spa, there is an assurance that professional service will be provided. I know I am far from being chubby or fat, but managing my weight and body mass seems essential to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Well, I might try at least one of these in the future!
