As I love reading any fairy tale, I sometimes thought of what really happened after a story concluded with “and they lived happily ever after.” Call it creativity or mere boredom, my mind kept on creating scenes as soon as that last page of a book has been turned. I often wondered how the heroine fared in her daily life afterwards. As a self-proclaimed princess, I considered these famous fiction royalties as my sisters. What happened to them? Last June 21, I finally had the chance to know how one princess’s life turned out. In fact, I even had the honor of knowing her story.
Held at Poetry and Prose Patisserie (this dainty French-inspired restaurant at Shangri-la Plaza), I was introduced to one of the internationally known princesses we have today.
Her name is Nina, a young, beautiful, and mysterious modern princess on her quest to find herself. She was tempted to bite an apple which was summoning her several times before, and when she finally gave in, Nina found herself transported into a magical cake shop. With delicious fragrance, sweetness and temptation in the air, Nina found a treasure – a treasure for the senses. Along with everything she loves and desire, she was filled with the headiness of indulgence, a sensation so strong to be a dream.
This awakening of the senses inspired the House of Nina Ricci to create another scent in its signature Nina saga. Firmenich’s master perfumer Oliver Cresp and Ladurée’s New Creation Pastry Chef Vincent Lemains put Nina’s magical encounter into life as they collaborated to make a new chapter of a fairy tale. Pursuing sensual headiness and dream of indulgence, both men gambled on a new fragrance – a combination of macaron and perfume.
This new fragrance is known as La Tentation de Nina, a fruity, floral perfume which is as addictive as macarons. With raspberries, pink grapefruits, lemons, almonds, Italian bergamots, rose, vanilla, white musk, and sandalwood, the taste and smell of macaron accords will eventually heighten one’s taste buds and olfactory nerves.
Personally intrigued about the macarons, I had a chance to taste these special, only-created-for-this-occasion, pink macarons. The overpowering scent and smell were those of raspberries and lemons, which also make up the heart of the La Tentation de Nina fragrance. I just couldn’t imagine how those two men concocted a perfume based on food. It was simply amazing!
Still with that burst of flavour left on my mouth, I walked around the restaurant and took photos of pretty and very feminine displays.
Soon, it is time for our afternoon high tea! Say hello to my fellow bloggers who graced the event.
A special shoutout to these girls who made the intimate event a success!
Later at home, I excitingly took photos of my first La Tentation de Nina bottle. I was like a giddy child eager to open a Christmas present.
Befitting a modern princess like me, yes!
My pink with gold heart charm bracelet perfectly matches the perfume’s feminine packaging.
Aside from the perfume, I also got this huge, sweet-smelling, tasty, and addictive pink macaron. If I will always be assaulted with this kind of sweet torture everyday, I’m afraid I will succumb to the temptation and indulgence every single time. I fully understand Nina!
La Tentation de Nina is the new, limited edition perfume from the House of Nina Ricci and comes in 80 ml and 50 ml. In the Philippines, you can find your magical experience in a bottle at SM Makati, SM North EDSA, and other selected department stores nationwide starting June 2014.
