30-day Blogging Challenge: Day 25 (A recipe)

The best way to Monica’s heart is through her stomach. – Monica For those of you who know me, you can testify that I am very much a food lover. I eat more than three times a day, almost every three hours. I have this strange jaw exercise every few hours resulting to my eating habit. But oh, I’m not fat. In fact, I haven’t reach 45kg and yes, I’m abnormal. I eat almost anything (spoiled food and poison excluded)! I love to try different kinds of cuisines in different restaurants and places. Not so recently (a few years ago), Read More …

My Baby U – Seo In Guk

After almost two years, I have listened to one of the songs that I took for granted during that time. I didn’t even bother to google it nor search for its English translation. Now, as I am running out of songs to play at work, I accidentally found this song. Memories flooded me. The secret. The song. The voice. The video. My birthday last 2010. It would be emotional to share what happened that day, but I’d like to add this song in My Music tab and include it in the songs that made a mark on me. 서인국- 애기야 Read More …

Eating your heart out: Bulgogi Brothers’ Unyang-style Bulgogi

Last Tuesday, I went to Mall of Asia to meet a friend. He wanted to eat Korean food, but I know some only along Macapagal Boulevard and not inside the mall. Still, we tried to scan the establishment until we came across Bulgogi Brothers. As I know, Bulgogi Brothers is a Korean franchise. To date, there are only three branches in the country: Greenebelt 5 in Makati, Alabang Town Center, and Mall of Asia. There’s one to be opened in Subic, but I’m not sure when. I was a bit curious with this international food chain so I agreed to Read More …

Kimchi weekend

Thunderstorm in the country, torrential rains, flood waters reaching up to knee in some areas, but Paul wanted to play chef again. Here’s a preamble of chef series posts that I’ll be making: Kimchi jjigae for dinner. What’s more perfect than this stewing hot Korean dish in a rainy day? I’ll get fat if he’ll continue to cook like this! ㅠㅠ Ciao for now, Nica Posted from WordPress for Android

Again and Again – Love Rain OST

Finally, Grooveshark is working in my office computer again. Hooray! To enjoy the desktop version (for the past weeks I was using the mobile one), I first listened to Yiruma’s timeless pieces, then hit Love Rain OST in the search box. I have been watching this Korean drama for more than a month now, I guess, but since I was so busy doing nothing I didn’t have time to finish it. Though for the record, I am down to the last episode 🙂 Do you love music? If so, did you have that feeling when you immediately felt raw emotions Read More …

Who wore it best? Korean style no lens eyeglasses

Last weekend, I bought my first pair of Korean style, no lens eyeglasses. The frame is black, arms red, with a polka dotted, red ribbon on the left side near the hinge. I decided to wear it one day in the office and asked some of my colleagues to try it on. Just for fun, let’s try to pick who wore my new eyeglasses the best. Choose wisely! (Ahem, who’s the owner of this blog?) 🙂   Final results will be shown a week after this entry was posted.

Friday ice cream

August 17, Friday Everyone seems so energized today. Not only because it is the last day of the week, but more importantly because there is a long weekend ahead for us. Both Monday and Tuesday next week are declared holidays in celebration of Eid-al-fitr and Ninoy Aquino Day, respectively. This morning, our Friday brunch buddies were gathered in the first level of the canteen, happily eating our meal while inserting jokes between bites. The show in the first floor’s TV was Black Swan, and we tried to watch it albeit the low volume and microscopic subs. Anyhow, after the “main Read More …

Love Rain Part 1

It was raining. We went to Trinoma to grab some coffee and ended up in good ol’ Starbucks in SM North Edsa’s sky garden, but since I am not a coffee person, I had my usual order of soy green tea latte. I’m a forever fan of green tea, and even though Starbucks tea lattes don’t offer the best tasting drink, I settled for that. My friend and I chatted for an hour or so, mostly about London 2012 Olympics. Then it started to rain. We were seated under the shade of one of the shop’s parasols outside, and the Read More …

Koreans: Christian College of Nursing

Yesterday, I was in the mood to open my neglected Facebook account. I browsed through the newsfeed and my profile page, but nothing caught my fancy. I then opened my photo albums and reminisce. Tons of pictures with Korean students and friends were featured, which inspired me to write this entry about my last group of students when I was in the university. I was assigned to be a tutor for students from 기독간호대학 (Christian College of Nursing) in Gwangju, Korea. Since there were a lot of Korean students studying in my university, the school decided to offer tutorial services Read More …

Enjoying the cold with Korean ice cream

According to my phone’s AccuWeather application, Manila is in 28 degrees Celsius. However, it feels like 10 deg lower. The country has been frequented by typhoons and LPAs these days, but thankfully, Manila has not been the target of these.  Still, cumulonimbus clouds, strong wind, and continuous rain are common. Yes, we like the cold temp for a change, but flood caused by these ill conditions is really a bummer. After the meeting this afternoon, my colleagues Jae and Micah wanted the three of us to try those Korean ice creams available in the canteen. Since we assume that I Read More …
