The Booker Award

As promised, I will have my blog award appreciation posts up this month. For this day, I would like to highlight one major award given to me last December 22 by Asha Seth.

Thank you Asha for such a wonderful blog award. I have received many, but this is the first time I got a book related award. I hope that I will be able to continue blogging about books and my experience in reading them.

Now, for the award. The {Booker}Award is a prize for literary and book-centered blogs. And I take this opportunity to nominate all those adorable book blogs that like mine are about nothing but books!

The {Booker}Award is for book blogs only! The deserving blogs must be at least 50% about books, reading, book-reviewing etc.

On being awarded with The {Booker}Award, you must share with readers your top five favorite books you have read in your life so far.

On being awarded with The {Booker}Award, you must share with readers your most favorite author/writer. Possibly, also the reason why you like their literary work.

I love how these authors made me love reading. With their writings, they were able to make me experience life in magical, godly, historical, and mortal worlds.

On being awarded with The {Booker}Award, you must share with readers your favorite genres.

(This is self-invented) Why are books SPECIAL in your life? This is optional and you don’t really have to answer it. But would love to know your reasons nonetheless.

You must give this award to five or ten or any number of other lucky book blogs that you adore.

And least importantly, show-off the award on your site and link it back to me.

  1. Congratulations and thank you for nominating me 🙂 I have The Great Gatsby right now in my TBR pile! I am even more excited to read it since you love it so much. All the other blogs you nominating are very deserving(they blew my mind with their bookish awesomeness).

  2. Interesting. I have to ask two questions. One, Is it common to read the Great Gatsby in your country? It is one of my favorite books, that is why I ask. Two, I wonder if the social references in the Great Gatsby are as appreciated by someone from a different country as they are by someone (and here I mean someone from America that has read historically and knows of the time period) from America? Nice post!

    1. Thanks. I think that in some schools this book is a reading requirement in high school or college. I know a lot of Filipinos who have read this book. We are readers. 🙂 For me, I can understand and imagine the situation during that period. America occupied the Philippines before WW1, and after that, the country is in a way connected to the US. Until now. And oh, I just remembered. I think the setting of the story was a decade after the Phil-American war.

    1. Hi Chef, apologies for the late response. I read this just now. According to my Goodreads account, I have read 19 books for this year. I am currently reading two books now – The Pope’s Stone and Matched.

      How’s the cooking and gardening?

  3. Congratulations and thank you for the nomination, i somehow missed this the other day, stupid eyes of mine. I have read all of your fave books except Jonathan Livingston Seagull, which I shall now be looking up. Your taste in nominees is only bettered by your taste in books.

  4. Congrats on the award, and thank you for the nomination! I already received this award before, but it was for different rules. I’ll just say that we seem to have similar reading tastes – Harry Potter and The Five People You Meet in Heaven are two of my absolute favourite books, and JKR and Mitch have been on my favourite list of authors ever since. 🙂

Share your thoughts, I would love to read them!
